The World Cruise leaves today
We're taking the last leg of the world cruise from LA to Sydney. It's still almost two months away for us, but the people doing the whole 'round the world' thing leave Sydney this afternoon. Can't imagine how excited they must all be!

Money and other things
The travel agent did a lot of the bookings, but some little things it's easier for us to do.
Well, so far my timing for some of them could have been better. One of the last bookings I had to make was flights from San Fransisco back to Los Angeles before the cruise starts. The price had been $74 each for months - went to make the bookings last week - $91 each!
Yesterday, decided it was time to get serious about ordering some $US cash - the minute you hit the US you need actual cash for tips etc. And sure, you can use ATMs - and we will - but there's a hefty fee for overseas cash withdrawals, to the point where it's actually not any dearer to get it in advance from Travelex. Anyway, the exchange rate which has been over 90c AUS for each US$ has dropped to around 86c this morning. Of course, still nowhere near as bad as the 52cents!!! we lived with on our first US holiday back in 2002, so I suppose I should be grateful.

Our holiday
This blog is about our holiday in 2010!
We'll be flying to Los Angeles - leaving Sydney in the afternoon of 28 July and in the usual creepy way, arriving in LA before we leave :-)
Next day we start a bus tour - highlights include Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and San Fransisco, plus a bunch of other places too.
Then we go back to Los Angeles - just for an overnight stay - we're staying at Anaheim so we can go to an Angels game (baseball in case you don't know).
Then on 11 August we get onto the Dawn Princess for a cruise - Hawaii, French Polynesia (Tahiti and Moorea), Pago Pago, and Auckland. We arrive back in Sydney on Friday 3 September. Then, back to work to pay for it all!!
