If I had known I was going to damage myself, and that we would therefore have a hire car available for Paul to use this weekend to get to and from his gaming, I'd have booked a hotel closer to civilisation. This Premier Inn is in an industrial park fairly close to where Paul is gaming, but a good 45 minute walk from the Stafford Town Centre. I walked there this morning and had a look around. The annual Stafford Arts Festival was on today, so there were lots of arts and crafts out on display in the town centre, along with entertainment - all very interesting.
I also decided to talk to a pharmacist about my arm to see if I should maybe have seen a doctor about it - it now has two enormous bruises near the elbow, I can't straighten it, and my wrist is also quite sore. He reckons it would be worse if I had broken it, but that I've obviously done some pretty significant damage and it will take at least 3 or 4 weeks of gentle movement to get my elbow back to full functionality. I also bought a brace for my wrist because he didn't think it would do any further damage and I'm damned sure it will help.
I'm now back at the hotel and my only other movement for the day will be to get dinner. Unless I want to go back into Stafford, I have a choice of the Chinese Buffet Restaurant over the road, or the Brewers Fayre restaurant onsite here at the hotel (Paul is going out with the other gamers, so I'm on my own tonight). I think it's going to be Brewers Fayre.
I'm considering actually going somewhere else tomorrow - not sure where but there are a few choices - for example, it's only 30 minutes on the train to Birmingham, or just under an hour to Coventry.
