The little calendar on the blog tells me that it's only 40 days until we leave. I started organising this holiday so long ago - for example I booked the Royal Caribbean cruises in May 2011! - and I'm finding it really hard to believe that it's almost here.
Sadly, my to-do list is still full of things to do. And, it's all organised by date so I can see how many things I should have done by now, but that I haven't quite gotten around to yet. Ouch.
And, I realised a few days ago that in between all the planning for the holiday, I had somewhat neglected to make sure that I have enough clothes to take. Of course, there is a solution for that one - if I run short of stuff, I'll just buy some more! One thing I have learned from previous holidays - on the sorts of trips we do, you are never more than a short walk away from someone who'll sell you a T-shirt! A bit expensive maybe, and usually something that instantly marks you as a tourist, but since that's what I am, I really don't mind.
Of course, the reason for all of the above is - as usual - my job. It's always busy - I think the last time I was bored at work was for a few weeks in 2003! - but around this time of year it's especially bad and this particular year is turning into a nightmare of system problems and not enough time to deal with them all. It's really hard to enjoy getting ready for a holiday - or even to find time to think about it - when work is taking up so much of my time. Hopefully it will settle down soon, as there isn't enough time for a lot of organising once my leave starts - I finish work on the Friday and we leave Canberra the next Tuesday, so it mostly has to be done by then.
Anyway, I can't remember what I was really going to write this entry about and now there's no more time because - surprise surprise - I have to go to work. Maybe I'll remember later :-)
